The Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area is more than 170,000 acres of forests, wetlands, and open lands on a peninsula between Kentucky and Barkley lakes in Western Kentucky and Tennessee.
Land Between The Lakes has attracted people for more than 6,000 years and a visit will tell you why: this is a lush, verdant area replete with an array of plants, animals, and terrain capable of not just supporting life but stimulating it! The area's nickname of "the Heartland's outdoor playground" says it all.

With over 500 miles of trails available and 300 miles of natural shoreline, you can explore and discover one of the largest blocks of undeveloped forest in the eastern United States through both self-guided tours and guided tours with professional naturalists. Homeplace 1850’s Working Farm and Living History Museum
Come and relive a time before the Civil War at Homeplace 1850’s Working Farm and Living History Museum. Watch as interpreters in period clothing go about their daily tasks, including caring for rare and endangered breeds of livestock and cultivating crops with heirloom seeds. They'll happily explain as they go and maybe even ask for a hand from you! Now that's hand-on history!
Golden Pond Planetarium
Golden Pond Planetarium is a NASA Educator Resource Center and, as such, provides a view of the night sky from anywhere in the world inside the 360 degree, surround-sound, 40-foot domed theater with a Konica Minolta Mediaglobe II digital projection system. At the Observatory, you'll be given the opportunity to take a closer peep at the heavens via the facility's telescopes - they even have one designed for safe viewing of the sun!
