Rose Hill Inn, originally known as the Terrell house or the Rose Hill estate, was built in 1823 and at that point, became the namesake for Rose Hill Avenue in historic downtown Versailles, as it was the first structure to be built on that thoroughfare. Architecturally, Rose Hill Inn was originally built in the Federal Style but was later "victorianized" in 1877. The fanned entrance and Palladian windows were replaced with cornice heads to cap the first floor openings, as well as round-arched hood molds on the second floor, and the roofline was raised to accommodate steeply pitched bracketed gables. The house did retain its original character in the Flemish-bond brickwork, as well as much of the interior.
