Built in the 1790s, The Butcher Rose sits on a prominent hill in a neighborhood that is now known as Butchertown. Under George Washington’s Presidency, the home’s first occupant was Henry Fait, who operated a saw and grist mill on nearby Beargrass Creek. The house (‘Linden Hill’), mill, and 800 acres was then purchased by Col. Frederick Geiger (1753-1832), a Revolutionary War veteran. Our home features five bedrooms, each with their own private bathroom. All bedrooms are on the second and third floors and are accessible only by a flight of stairs. Our entryway includes four steps leading to the parlor. Given the house is over 200 years old, accessibility alterations would impact the historical significance of the property.
